Binh Xuan Ward Recognized as Safe Zone

(DTO) On April 16, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Xuan Ward held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee recognizing Binh Xuan as a Safe Zone locality during the resistance wars against France and the U.S.

The event was attended by Tran Thanh Nguyen, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Council; provincial leaders; representatives of departments and sectors; former provincial leaders; leaders of Binh Xuan Ward; revolutionary veterans; and representatives of families of martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and families with meritorious service to the revolution. 

Binh Xuan is a land rich in revolutionary tradition and once served as an important base for Party and State agencies during both resistance wars. Through years of hardship and sacrifice, the Party Committee, armed forces, and people of Binh Xuan remained steadfast, defending their land and loyally supporting the Party, contributing to the nation’s overall victory.

According to Decision No. 538/QD-UBND dated February 24, 2026, the recognition of Binh Xuan as a Safe Zone carries profound historical significance, honoring the great contributions and sacrifices of previous generations. During the resistance wars, the locality hosted many agencies and units. Local residents actively sheltered cadres, supported combat forces, and protected revolutionary bases. Across the two wars, Binh Xuan recorded 372 martyrs and 59 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and in 1994 was awarded the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.

Speaking at the event, Duong Thanh Son, Deputy Secretary of the Ward Party Committee and Chairman of the Ward People’s Committee, emphasized that the Safe Zone recognition is not only an honor but also a responsibility to continue upholding revolutionary traditions, preserving historical values, caring for policy-beneficiary families, and educating younger generations. 

In the coming time, Binh Xuan Ward will focus on strengthening national defense and security, promoting economic development, reducing poverty sustainably, reinforcing the great national unity bloc, and building a locality worthy of its recognized status.

On this occasion, the Binh Xuan Ward People’s Committee announced commendations for individuals who made significant contributions to developing the Safe Zone scientific dossier, and honored outstanding policy-beneficiary families and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers for their contributions during the resistance wars.
