Dong Thap Deploys and Assigns Missions to K91 Team for Duty in Cambodia

(DTO) On the morning of September 4, in Tan Hong Commune, the Dong Thap Provincial Steering Committee for the Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains (Steering Committee 515) held a send-off and task-assignment ceremony for the K91 Team under the Political Division of the Dong Thap Provincial Military Command. The team will spearhead the search and collection of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who fell in Cambodia during past wars for Phase XXVI (the 2026–2027 dry season).

The ceremony was attended by Major General Huynh Van Ngon, Deputy Political Commissar and Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 9; and Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 515.

Under the target set by the “500-Day-and-Night Campaign,” Dong Thap Province is tasked with searching for and collecting 370 martyrs' remains. To date, the K91 Team has recovered 150 sets of remains, including 47 in Cambodia and 103 within the province. Of these, 68 have been laid to rest at Tam Nong Martyrs’ Cemetery, while 82 are being preserved by the K91 Team. These results lay a critical foundation for continuing to mobilize forces for search and collection operations in Cambodia and domestically during Phase XXVI (the 2026–2027 dry season).

According to the Phase XXVI plan, the K91 Team will concentrate forces on surveying and verifying sites across 9 districts (36 communes, 44 points) in Prey Veng Province and 4 districts (8 communes, 8 points) in Pursat Province, Cambodia. Based on prior survey and verification results, the K91 Team will continue coordinating with local Cambodian forces to visit grassroots levels, meet witnesses, local authorities, and residents to receive and authenticate information, focusing on high-probability areas where remains are likely to be found.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan commended and highly praised the responsibility, resilience, and unwavering determination of the K91 Team's officers and soldiers. He lauded their proactive and creative approaches in reviewing, collecting, and cross-referencing information, as well as conducting field surveys. This holds profound significance as information sources grow increasingly limited, aging witnesses become scarcer, and the topography of former battlefields undergoes major changes.

To successfully fulfill tasks during this deployment, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan urged thorough adherence to the motto: “As long as information remains, verification continues; as long as traces remain, searching continues; as long as fallen martyrs have not returned, the mission does not stop.” Each officer and soldier of the K91 Team performing duties on Cambodian soil acts as an “ambassador” carrying the noble image of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" and the sincere sentiments of the Vietnamese people.

Therefore, they must strictly observe State laws, military discipline, and foreign affairs regulations; respect the host country's customs, practices, and beliefs; and continue effectively executing mass mobilization work through practical actions, thereby further tightening the special solidarity and friendship between the two nations and between Dong Thap Province and its Cambodian counterparts.

On this occasion, the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 9, the Provincial Steering Committee 515, and the Dong Thap Provincial Military Command presented gifts to encourage the K91 Team before their departure.
