Dong Thap: General Nguyen Trong Nghia pays tribute at Go Cong Dong Martyrs’ Cemetery

(DTO) On the morning of April 29, marking the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026), General Nguyen Trong Nghia—Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army—along with his spouse, visited and offered incense to heroic martyrs at the Go Cong Dong Martyrs’ Cemetery (formerly in Go Cong City, now part of Tan Dong Commune, Dong Thap Province).

The delegation included: Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Ms. Chau Thi My Phuong, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation for Dong Thap; and Major General Pham Van Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Commander of the Provincial Military Command.

In a solemn atmosphere, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with his spouse and the delegation laid wreaths and spent a moment of silence to commemorate the immense sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for national liberation.

Following the ceremony, delegates visited individual graves to pay their respects and express profound gratitude to previous generations.

On this occasion, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and his spouse presented Go Cong Dong Martyrs’ Cemetery in former Go Cong City with a solid-cast bronze incense burner, which has been respectfully placed at the “To Quoc Ghi Cong” memorial altar.
