(DTO) On the morning of March 3, in Truong Xuan commune, the Standing Board of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Dong Thap province held a ceremony to launch Youth Month and kick off the 2026 “Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho” Tree-Planting Festival on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Spring.

Present at the event were Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of provincial departments and agencies; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union; leaders of Truong Xuan and Doc Binh Kieu communes; partner units; and more than 700 youth union officials and members.

Youth Month 2026 will run through March 31, 2026. Throughout this period, Dong Thap’s youth will focus on implementing 12 key target groups and 7 main areas of activity, centering on raising awareness about the significance and importance of the elections for the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Council at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; promoting education on the proud traditions of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; organizing activities that showcase the dynamism, volunteerism, and creativity of young people; enhancing the pioneering and core role of youth in digital transformation, new-style rural area development, and building civilized urban areas; supporting youth in careers, employment, entrepreneurship, and international integration; providing care and support for children and adolescents.

At the ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union and sponsoring organizations provided nearly 10 billion VND in funding for various social welfare projects throughout the province. Highlights included 2 billion VND for building rural transport bridges, repairing 25 km of rural roads, donating 500 solar-powered lights, and supporting the planting of 1,000 trees and 5,000 seedlings. Additional social welfare activities included offering 2,000 dental checkups and treatments for children and adolescents, and providing 1,000 free medical checkups and medications for local residents.

On this occasion, the Provincial Youth Union launched a volunteer youth team to support the elections for the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Council at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Truong Xuan Commune. Its Standing Committee also presented 50 gifts to individuals who directly took part in the resistance war against the U.S., 100 gifts to disadvantaged residents, and 20 gifts to students overcoming hardship to achieve good academic performance.

To ensure that Youth Month 2026 delivers truly meaningful and practical results, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan called on all levels of the Youth Union to adopt a unified understanding of the role of young people and the importance of youth work in the Party’s and the nation’s new revolutionary phase. He emphasized that young people must continue to be the vanguard in learning, training, and labor.
At the same time, Youth Union and Youth Federation chapters should align Youth Month activities with volunteer initiatives supporting the elections for the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Council at all levels. They should prioritize implementing practical youth projects closely linked with local political tasks and the work plan of the Youth Union and Youth Federation. He also encouraged bold innovation in the forms and content of activities, making them more streamlined, effective, and responsive to the needs, interests, and aspirations of young people, thereby motivating youth to contribute to the community.
Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan also urged Party committees, authorities, departments, and socio-political organizations to continue supporting youth activities in various ways; to engage in dialogue, listen, trust, and assign responsibilities to young people, creating the best possible conditions for Dong Thap’s youth to practice, strive, grow, and unleash their full potential and creativity for the province’s development.

Following the launching ceremony, delegates, youth union members, and local young people in Truong Xuan Commune took part in a range of vibrant activities, including planting trees in response to the Tree-Planting Festival; visiting and presenting gifts to policy-beneficiary families; meeting, encouraging, and presenting gifts to young men preparing for military service; and inaugurating the solar-powered “Light Up Rural Roads” project.
