Dong Thap: Numerous meaningful activities at the “Border Connectivity” Program
(DTO) On the morning of February 5, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap Province, in coordination with the Party Committee of Party agencies of Ho Chi Minh City, organized a social welfare program themed “Border Connectivity.
Attending the event were Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, along with leaders of various departments and agencies of Ho Chi Minh City. Representing Dong Thap Province were Mr. Phan Van Thang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap Province, and leaders of provincial departments and agencies.
At Thuong Lac Ward, participating units presented a symbolic funding board worth 1.5 billion VND, contributed by the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Fund, the “For the Poor” Fund of Ho Chi Minh City, and the “For the Homeland’s Sea and Islands, For the Nation’s Frontlines” Fund of Ho Chi Minh City.
They also presented gifts to 100 policy-beneficiary families and disadvantaged households, along with support for 50 officers, soldiers, adopted children of Border Guard Stations, and children in the “Supporting Students to School” program.
In Tan Hong Commune, the units gave gifts to 170 disadvantaged households and 20 bicycles to outstanding students with difficult circumstances, with a total value of over 300 million VND.
They also supported local schools with the installation of two RO water filtration systems and solar-powered streetlights, worth more than 160 million VND.
On this occasion, the units visited and offered Lunar New Year gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers Nguyen Thi Nghiep (Tan Ho Co Commune) and Le Thi Lien (Tan Thanh Commune), and provided gifts to officers and soldiers of the Dinh Ba Border Guard Station and International Border Gate Checkpoint. In addition, they supported the construction of a route for the “National Flag Road” project.
The “Border Connection” Program, with its many meaningful activities, served as an opportunity for provincial leaders to meet, encourage, and support officers, soldiers, and local residents living in border areas, demonstrating the affection, responsibility, and profound gratitude of the Party Committee, authorities, and people. It also honored the devotion and sacrifice of Border Guard soldiers who safeguard the nation’s borders day and night.
