Dong Thap Party Standing Committee Hosts Viet Su Film Studio to Discuss Television Series
(DTO) On October 6, Mr. Phan Van Thang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, chaired a working session with Viet Su Film Studio.
The event drew leaders of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda Department, the Provincial Party Committee’s Office, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, alongside representatives from Dong Thap Newspaper and the provincial Radio-Television station.
At the meeting, writer-director Nguyen Quang Vinh, Director of Viet Su Film Studio, outlined the production plans for the upcoming television series “Father, Son & the Fatherland.” The 40-episode series is committed to receive meticulous investment in content, artistic execution, and historical documentation.

The film centers on the revered figure of Deputy Laureate (Pho Bang) Nguyen Sinh Sac—a patriotic, compassionate, and high-minded Confucian scholar who forged a deep, enduring bond with the people of southern Vietnam, particularly Dong Thap. The series will go beyond portraying the life of Nguyen Sinh Sac, delving into the sacred father-son bond to highlight how his exemplary character, moral values, and patriotism shaped his son, Nguyen Sinh Cung – Nguyen Tat Thanh – who later became President Ho Chi Minh.
The production aims to commemorate two monumental historical milestones: the 100th anniversary of the passing of Deputy Laureate Nguyen Sinh Sac (1929–2029) and the 140th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (1890–2030).

The studio sought the Provincial Party Standing Committee’s endorsement in principle, requesting assistance in mobilizing social resources for the project. Additionally, they requested local facilitation for location scouting, set selection, and filming coordination across the province.
Applauding the project’s historical significance, traditional educational value, and artistic merits, Phan Van Thang urged Viet Su Film Studio to promptly submit a detailed written proposal. This will allow the Standing Committee to review and direct relevant departments to coordinate and create the most favorable conditions for the studio during its local filming operations.
