Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong Works with Tan Phuoc 2 Commune
(DTO) On May 14, Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Council, led a working delegation to meet with the Standing Board of the Tan Phuoc 2 Commune Party Committee. Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, also attended.

In the first four months of 2026, the Tan Phuoc 2 Commune Party Committee focused on socio-economic development while stabilizing its organizational apparatus following the merger of Thanh Tan, Thanh Hoa, and Tan Hoa Tay communes. The locality recorded positive outcomes in agricultural production, infrastructure investment, administrative reform, and social security.
In agriculture, the locality continued to accelerate crop restructuring while supporting farmers in applying advanced techniques and producing under VietGAP standards to enhance the value of agricultural products.
The trade and services sector remained stable with 214 business households, 30 enterprises, and two cooperatives operating in the area. The commune deployed four key transport infrastructure projects funded by more than VND 14 billion in public investment capital.
Attention was continually paid to social security, healthcare, and education. The trained labor rate reached 70%, and the locality fully implemented policies for meritorious individuals and social protection beneficiaries. Cultural and sports activities were maintained; tourist attractions such as the Truc Lam Chanh Giac Zen Monastery and the Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Conservation Area welcomed more than 5,600 visitors.
Despite these achievements, Tan Phuoc 2 Commune still faces several challenges, including unsynchronized infrastructure, a shortage of specialized human resources, slow digital transformation, and prolonged obstacles related to the Thanh Tan Industrial Cluster project. In the coming time, the locality will continue to focus on sustainable agricultural development, accelerate infrastructure investment, improve the quality of administrative reform, and build a digital government.
In addition, the Standing Committee of the Tan Phuoc 2 Commune Party Committee proposed several recommendations to the province, including re-planning the irrigation system to ensure effective drainage, supplementing public officials and civil servants, attracting corporate investment into the area, and establishing linkages for agricultural product consumption.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, requested Tan Phuoc 2 Commune to calculate and review its irrigation systems and raw material zones to ensure synchronous implementation. Regarding the land conversion for centralized livestock farming planning, which currently sees high demand from many enterprises, the commune should review the current status of this area to create favorable conditions for incoming corporate investments.
In his directive speech, Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong requested Tan Phuoc 2 Commune to identify and review its team of public officials and civil servants to determine surplus or inadequate positions, thereby calculating and consolidating the apparatus to perform tasks effectively.
Regarding investment attraction and the planning of industrial zones and clusters, the commune must promptly report to the province whenever enterprises express interest in industrial investments that benefit the locality. For the deployment of the Thanh Tan Industrial Cluster Project, the Provincial People’s Committee and the commune were urged to take decisive actions, reviewing land recovery procedures and inspecting related dossiers to develop specific measures.
Concerning agricultural product consumption linkages, the province will provide support, but the commune holds the primary responsibility to consolidate local collective economies (cooperatives) to boost linkages and consumption. For in-field irrigation investment, the commune must efficiently utilize allocated investment capital to perform irrigation works well. The commune must also continue researching and exploiting its local advantages to develop tourism potential, ensuring that tourism growth translates into income for residents.
Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong urged the Standing Board of the Commune Party Committee to uphold its sense of responsibility, intellect, and exemplary leadership to identify solutions for increasing the commune's economic revenue, while researching local advantages to guide residents in implementing new and effective production and business models tailored to local characteristics.
