Dong Thap Shares Socio-Economic Development Experience with Lao Delegation
(DTO) On the afternoon of November 4, a delegation from the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, led by Comrade Khamfong Inmany, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Luang Namtha Provincial Administration Committee, visited and held a working session with Dong Thap Province as part of a thematic study and exchange programme in Vietnam.
The delegation included Comrade Truong Cong Dac, full-time Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. It was received by Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

The meeting focused on broad socio-economic development dynamics and orientations, mechanisms, and policies, as well as solutions to promote science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
On behalf of the delegation, Comrade Khamfong Inmany expressed his sincere thanks to Dong Thap’s leaders for their thoughtful and gracious reception.
He highly valued the practical significance of the thematic study and exchange programme, particularly Dong Thap’s hands-on administrative expertise, socio-economic development, and the application of science, technology, and digital transformation. He said these valuable lessons would enable delegation members to study, discuss, and draw references to tailor them to Laos’s actual conditions, thereby improving the effectiveness of local governance.

Following the field visits, Comrade Khamfong Inmany expressed his impression of Dong Thap’s development achievements, as well as the province’s strong resolve and decisive measures to meet its socio-economic development targets and strive for double-digit growth.
He expressed his hope that Dong Thap would further strengthen cooperation, exchange experience, and share achievements and practical lessons with its sister localities in Laos, helping deepen the special solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in an increasingly substantive and effective manner.

In his remarks, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized that Vietnam and Laos share a great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation, painstakingly nurtured through the dedicated efforts of generations of leaders and people of both countries. This relationship is an invaluable asset and a firm foundation for the two countries to continue cooperating and developing together.
Building on this fine tradition, Dong Thap has always cherished and preserved its friendship with Lao localities while working to strengthen these ties. To date, the province has established sister-province relations with three Lao provinces: Khammouane, Salavan, and Champasak.
In August 2026, Dong Thap and Champasak re-signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the 2026–2030 period. The province is also coordinating with Khammouane and Salavan to prepare new cooperation agreements for the coming period.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan affirmed that Dong Thap believes friendship should be reflected not only in cooperation documents but, more importantly, in close ties, mutual support, and practical actions that bring benefits to people in each locality. Building on their respective potential and strengths, Dong Thap hopes to expand exchanges, share insights, and promote cooperation in three practical areas.
These include local governance, administrative reform, digital transformation, and improved public services for residents and businesses; modern agriculture, processing industries, trade, and business connectivity to increase product value and expand markets; and human resource training, cultural exchanges, and the sharing of socio-economic development experience to foster greater mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Earlier, the delegation conducted a field survey at the provincial Public Administration Service Centre in Dao Thanh Ward and visited Thabico Tien Giang Food Industry Joint Stock Company in Binh Ninh Commune.
