General Nguyen Trong Nghia Pays Tribute at Go Cong Martyrs Cemetery and National Hero Truong Dinh Temple

(DTO) On the morning of September 11, General Nguyen Trong Nghia—Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army—laid wreaths and offered incense at the Go Cong Martyrs Cemetery (in Tan Dong Commune) and the Temple of National Hero Truong Dinh (in Gia Thuan Commune).

Attending the ceremony were former Party Central Committee Secretary and former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong My Hoa; former Party Central Committee member and National Assembly Standing Committee member Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu, who also previously chaired the National Assembly’s Committee on Social Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary and Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Organization Commission.

At the ceremony, General Nguyen Trong Nghia respectfully laid wreaths and offered incense to honor the heroic martyrs. He expressed profound gratitude for their ultimate sacrifices, dedicating their youth to safeguarding the nation's sacred sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Delegates observed a minute of silence in memory of the heroic martyrs before offering incense at individual graves resting at the cemetery.

Go Cong Martyrs Cemetery is the final resting place of 1,388 fallen soldiers, including 224 unidentified individuals. Under the ongoing 500-Day-and-Night Campaign, bone samples are being collected from these remains for DNA profiling to identify the unnamed martyrs.

The delegation also paid respects at the Temple of National Hero Truong Dinh. Delegates observed a minute of silence to express deep gratitude and commemorate the monumental contributions of Grand Marshal of the West-Conquering Army Truong Dinh to the nation.
