Go Cong ward urged to accelerate investment projects

(DTO) Mr. Phan Van Thang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, chaired a working session with the Standing Board of the Go Cong Ward Party Committee on April 16.

At the meeting, leaders of the Go Cong ward Party Committee briefed participants on the locality’s socio-economic performance. In the first quarter of 2026, trade and services turnover was estimated at VND1.85 trillion, reaching 34.26 per cent of the annual plan. The total value of handicraft and small-scale industrial production was estimated at VND108 billion, achieving 33.75 per cent of the target. State budget revenue hit VND14.229 billion, while five new enterprises were established.

The locality also fulfilled military conscription targets (at a 100 per cent rate) and admitted eight new Party members. In addition, the ward has focused on expediting several projects, including Truong Dinh Street and its adjacent residential area, Nguyen Trong Hop urban area, and Nguyen Hue Bridge.

The ward successfully organised elections for deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure in accordance with the prescribed structure and procedures. The ward-level People’s Council for the new term convened its first session to elect key positions within the People’s Council and People’s Committee per regulations.

At the meeting, local leaders also highlighted several challenges, including personnel shortages at some agencies relative to workload demands; a dearth of personnel with specialised information technology training; frequent latency in administrative procedure software within the justice sector; and difficulties in issuing initial land use right certificates and handling applications for land-use conversion.

Go Cong ward proposed that the province consider increasing staffing quotas and soon approve the investment policy for a new administrative centre, including its inclusion in the 2027 public investment plan. Relevant departments and agencies provided detailed responses regarding the ward’s proposals.

In his concluding remarks, Phan Van Thang commended the locality’s sense of responsibility and recent achievements, while urging the local administration to further adapt to new operational mechanisms. He called for strengthening internal communications, encouraging officials and civil servants to quickly align with new models, and proactively deploying personnel in line with job requirements, while enhancing the accountability of heads of agencies.

He also requested the ward to substantiate the provincial Party Committee’s 2026 Action Programme, ensure proper staffing, and promote professional development to improve the capacity of officials and civil servants.

In the coming time, the locality was urged to focus on socio-economic development tasks, address bottlenecks, accelerate investment projects, fortify Party building, update and implement new regulations, improve the quality of Party cell activities, and prioritize Party membership development.
