On behalf of the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command, Major General Pham Van Thanh reported to the delegation on the results of military and national defence tasks in 2025, as well as preparations for the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026.
In 2025, thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence-directly from the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 9, as well as the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee-the provincial armed forces maintained solidarity and unity, made great efforts to overcome difficulties, and rapidly stabilized their organizational structure and staffing following the merger and reorganization of local military agencies under the two-level local government model. As a result, all assigned military and national defence targets and tasks were comprehensively fulfilled.
In recognition of these achievements, the Dong Thap Provincial Military Command was honored to receive the Emulation Flag of the Ministry of National Defence and was recognized as a “Comprehensively Strong, Exemplary and Typical Unit” in 2025.
The organizational structure and staffing of provincial armed forces agencies and units have basically stabilized and are operating in an orderly manner. In implementing the policy of assigning regular officers to grassroots-level positions, the Provincial Military Command has completed personnel deployment, appointment and arrangement at a rate of 68.74%.
The unit has also developed and implemented a full system of documents and plans to ensure readiness before, during and after the Lunar New Year, with particular emphasis on maintaining combat readiness; Party and political work; and logistics and technical support for assigned tasks. Preparations for and the execution of fireworks displays were carried out effectively at eight locations across the province.
The Provincial Military Command strictly manages youth eligible for military service and has made thorough preparations for the Military Enlistment Festival and the hand-over and reception of new recruits at nine enlistment points, with a total target of 2,900 recruits.
At the same time, policies for the Army and military families have been well implemented, ensuring full and timely provision of entitlements and benefits in accordance with Ministry of National Defence regulations during the Lunar New Year.
In parallel, the unit has actively prepared for the training launch ceremony, training courses, combat readiness drills, and exercises to shift combat readiness levels; and has coordinated efforts to ensure security and safety for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Dong Thap provincial armed forces. He requested Party committees and commanders at all levels to continue thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing resolutions of the Central authorities, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence, and Military Region 9.
He also emphasized the need to focus on building a strong Provincial Military Party Committee in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and personnel; proactively research, grasp, assess and forecast situations; improve the quality of advisory work to effectively handle emerging situations; further promote the role of the armed forces in building an all-people national defence posture associated with the people’s security posture, especially along border, maritime and island areas; and continue to effectively implement policies for the Army and military families.
At the same time, efforts are being made to effectively organize Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026 activities for officers and soldiers, while paying due attention to caring for policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious service, ethnic and religious communities, residents in remote and disadvantaged areas, and units stationed in border and island regions.
