Provincial leaders confer the honorary title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother on Pham Thi Kien

(DTO) – On the morning of July 23, in Tan Phu Dong Commune, the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held a ceremony to confer the State honorary title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" upon Mother Pham Thi Kien, born in 1937 and residing in Phu Huu Hamlet.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Home Affairs, Tan Phu Dong Commune, and the mother’s relatives.

Mother Pham Thi Kien made numerous contributions and sacrifices to the cause of national liberation, national construction, and the defence of the Fatherland. Her husband was Martyr Nguyen Van Lo (born in 1936, who sacrificed his life in 1967), and her son was Martyr Nguyen Van Phuoc (born in 1960, who sacrificed his life in 1981).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan requested the Department of Home Affairs and relevant departments and agencies to closely coordinate with local authorities to implement the preferential regimes and policies of the Party and the State for Mother Pham Thi Kien in a timely and full manner, paying special attention to ensuring the best conditions for her healthcare.

The Vice Chairman also requested the party committee, authority, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Phu Dong Commune to continue promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source," regularly visiting, caring for, and supporting the family of Mother Pham Thi Kien. Concurrently, favourable conditions should be created for the family to continue promoting its revolutionary traditions, actively engaging in labour and production, and contributing to local development.
